The recommended study manual is offered by NCBDC. If the remainder are not already on your shelf, they may be purchased from a book store.

Note: The NCBDC "Study Guide" is not allowed as reference material at the exam. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks for delivery.
II. Study materials not offered by NCBDC.
The NCBDC Certification examination is an "open book" exam. The following books are recommended as study material and not mandatory. You may substitute reference books, of your choice, for the ones below. The NCBDC Study Guide may not be used as reference material at the exam, as well as any other material deemed inappropriate by the examiner.

2. The Professional Practice of Architectural Working Drawings by Wakita & Linde (John Wiley & Sons)
3. Construction Materials and Processes by Don A. Watson (McGraw Hill Book Co.)
4. Construction Principles. Materials and Methods by Harold B. Olin (Van Nostrand Reinhold)
5. A Field Guide to American Houses (Virginia & Lee McAlester)
6. Simplified Engineering for Architects & Builders (Harry Parker)
